Recently a Spanish designer told me “In Spain we have a big economical crisis but we have many ideas”. Naif Magazine n.15 out this week is alone a confirmation of the great creativity – and good energy – coming from Spain.  Another illustration of it comes from the latest submission I received for Pirouette, by Macarena Bilbao, which produces fun wooden toys : cameras, phones, guitars, kitchenettes…

About 2 years ago, Macarena created a toy kitchen for her children out of pallets. Friends around loved it so much that they begged her to do one for them too. What started as an amusement became a total obsession, and finally a real business.  The kitchens,  all different from one another (either in terms of colour, fabrics or accessories), are sent in pieces with instructions on how to assemble them. Take a look at this lovely brand, so different, promoting imagination, hand crafts and love for toys from the old times.
