Freshly launched by two young architects based in Barcelona, Nuun introduces a collection of clever and beautiful children’s furniture. Part of the brand’s philosophy is that children should grow up playing, learning and sharing. I can’t stop watching the videos showing how all this works.
About the founders
Núria Motjé – “I was born in Girona, Spain, when Oliver and Benji cartoons were all the rage on T.V., and spent part of my youth in the ever stimulating Berlin. My education in architecture, my passion for design, meeting Bruna and the birth of my twin nephew and niece were key to my decision to dive into this dream project. I love to cook, and there’s one sentence that inspires me: “If it works out, it works out. If it doesn’t, then it’s time to start again”. The rest are fantasies”.
Bruna Vila – “Architect by profession, I was born in Girona and I’m always on the move. I can’t keep still. That’s what led me to live in Holland and London when I was just 20. As a little girl I couldn’t stop drawing, imagining, creating… and I am still doing it at nuun kids design, where I am devoted to looking after every single detail, otherwise I just can’t sleep!”.
Philosophy
This is the message that Núria Motjé and Bruna Vila, the founders, wish to transmit through their creations.
“Because we believe in children’s creativity and imagination, we have designed these dynamic and multifunctional pieces of furniture that adapt to their needs at given time, and can be constantly recycled.
As architects we are space-oriented, and we dream of compact children’s furniture adaptable to modern homes. We are concerned with the environment, and eco-design is one of the key aspects of our proposal. We use noble materials like birch wood, as well as natural and neutral colours that allow kids to be the protagonists. We are also very proud of the fact that our furniture is designed and built in Europe.
We would like to dedicate our first OhU line to all families, and especially to pairs of children of equal or similar age. They are very much on our minds in our duo line“.
