Do your kids spend enough time outdoors? Why is that important? Take a look at Project Wild Thing, a film and a movement aiming to reconnecting children with nature.

The film is an ambitious, feature-length documentary that takes a funny and revealing look at a complex issue, the increasingly disparate connection between children and nature.

Project Wild Thing is much more than a film, this is a growing movement of organisations and individuals who care deeply about the need for nature connected, free-range, roaming and outdoor playing kids in the 21st century. Hundreds of people have already committed huge amounts of time, energy, resources and money to help get the project where it is today.

I haven’t signed yet but reading about Project Wild Thing helped me realise how much time we spend indoors. Since then we have really changed our habits and taken the children in nature a lot more. It has become like eating, sleeping or breathing. The Northern European way. We  also plan to take them to long walks every month, every time with friends because walking for 3 hours with your parents isn’t fun, but doing that with your best mates is something else!

If you also have a chance to watch the new documentary InRealLife (inreallifefilm.com), about the impact of social media on children and teenagers, I bet you’ll be even more inclined to be in the wild more often!
