Pala-Mino‘s collection for boys and girls seems to have been created for design and architecture lovers with its strong shapes highlighted by fresh colour palette of navy, grey + pops of gold, tangerine and lilac. A nod to the sportswear of the 90’s that make me think of French brand Dorotennis, for those who remember it.
The collection consists in sweatshirts, playsuits, oversized jersey dresses and colourful leggings, the kind of clothes kids can wear from morning till night.
Pala Mino fuses playfulness with function, and mixes innovative materials with craftsmanship. The majority of the collection is made from premium soft cotton jersey and sweat-shirting. The sport-luxe style is brought by accent colours and trims such as neoprene and ribbing. Crafty cuts, high quality and attention to detail are the core values of the brand. This results in a very wearable and stylish collection for children aged 1-8 years.
Louise Coughlan, Creative Director says “As a maker, the garments have been designed through the process of making alongside the inspiration. Graphic shapes draw the eye and ‘horizon’ lines. The silhouette is oversized and slouchy but balanced with some unisex items allowing the kids ease of movement and expression.”
Handmade in the UK, the quality of the clothes is superb and so resilient that it can be passed down to siblings or friends, maintaining both its shape and sports-luxe credentials. Prices start from £20 for a t-shirt up to £40 for the Grecian Plaited Dress or Playsuit, a piece that.
The brand is still a baby, born in 2014. Talent and and a good knowledge of the industry will make the rest, no doubt. What’s next? Show at Dot to Dot London in July 2015 is on the map, and be part of Playtime Paris soon after.
About the founders :
Louise Coughlan, Creative Director studied fashion at University, and then went on to do a post-grad diploma in Costume at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Following that, she worked on a number of projects for Gifford’s Circus and Downton Abbey to name a few, before embarking on launching the Pala Mino clothing label. Coffee, fashion and art float her boat – in that order.
Zoe Jones, Marketing & Sales Director studied Business & Marketing at University in London. She worked at Diesel and Selfridges, which gave her exposure to lots of cool brands and a great insight into the retail environment. She loves great design, whether it’s interiors or fashion – big and small – that and a nicely brewed cup of tea!
