Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91 on Thursday 4 September, 2025.
With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani
Giorgio Armani, the legendary Italian designer who transformed modern fashion, died in Milan on September 4, 2025, aged 91. Known for his minimalist tailoring and relaxed silhouettes, Armani redefined power dressing in the 1980s and went on to build one of the world’s most successful independent fashion empires.
Launching his label in 1975 with little more than determination and the sale of his car, he combined creative brilliance with sharp business sense, expanding into beauty, home design, hospitality—and crucially, childrenswear. Through Emporio Armani Kids, Armani translated his signature elegance into fashion for the youngest generation, proving that his vision of refined, joyful style had no age limits.
Though he had no children of his own, Armani often expressed his fondness for them and created a lasting succession plan involving his sister Rosanna, nieces, nephew, and longtime collaborators. His legacy: timeless elegance, independence, and quiet confidence woven into fashion history.
The Armani group has a turnover of aprox 2.3 billion euros ($2.7 billion) a year.
