Bosco Verticale (Vertical Forest) will soon be completed and I can’t wait to see it in real life. I lived in Milan for two years when the city was englued in conventionalism, desperately lacking innovative projects, especially in design and architecture. Ironic knowing the number of great designers and artisanal factories in Lombardia. It is only a bit after I left in 2003 that it started to change, first with the renovation of neighbourhoods such as of L’Isola or Lambrate. On each return to Il Salone del Mobile I saw the city transform, becoming cleaner (green buses, Bikeme), and projects become reality, the most amazing being the revamping of the Stazione Garibaldi area, just behind my old neighbourhood of Brera/Corso Como. It will host a Fashion Center and Bosco Verticale.
Bosco Verticale promises to be blow minding in all respects. A model of vertical densification of nature within the city, it consists in two residential towers of 110 and 76 meters height that will host 900 trees. The Bosco Verticale will optimizes, recuperates and produces energy. It will help creating a microclimate by filtering the dust particles contained in the urban environment. The diversity of the plants and their characteristics will generate humidity, absorb CO2, produce oxygen, protect from radiation and acoustic pollution, improve the quality of living spaces and saving energy. A beautiful and healthy revolution. Hurray.
