Parent & Child interview revisited… Easton aged 13, 2018

Now we live in Byron Bay, Australia. We moved here two years ago. I started surfing a few years ago and it’s my favourite thing to do now. When I was little, I wanted to be a scuba diver or a marine biologist because I loved the ocean. I still love the ocean and would love to take underwater photos of fish, or even photos of surfers. I am often surfing next to dolphins or sea turtles or rays, and I think my 5-year-old self would be so excited by this!

We travelled around the world a couple years ago and spent time in many different places. I got to see what life is like around the world and it has opened my eyes to different ways of living. Maybe some day I will return to Chile to be a surf coach. Or maybe I will live in Sri Lanka and help clean up the plastic rubbish on the beaches.

Courtney

After 12 years in London, we sold our house and most of our belongings and set off on a year-long adventure around the world. After our travels, we relocated to Byron Bay, Australia, where life is about as far away as it gets from London in every possible way. We are so happy here in this little corner of Australia. We spend a lot of time outside in nature — mostly at the beach, and surfing every chance we get. I’m so proud of how close we are as a family.

Easton is now 13, and he still enjoys spending time with his siblings and parents. I love that he’s found a sport he enjoys, and it’s something we can do together. Easton is the happiest when he’s in the ocean, and I love watching him in
his element.

We’ve done a lot of travelling as a family and we’ve seen how many ways ther
are to live and how many recipes there are for happiness. I feel so lucky that
we’ve found a place that makes us all so happy.
