PLAY by Julia Bostock for the 5th edition of et magazine takes us back to a time where play was free – not an iPad, mobile, console or tablet in sight…
The brief was PLAY – set by Luca Zordan’s online mag Enfant Terrible ET. I had lots of ideas of kids playing freely, without cares, simply in their own worlds and without expense.
It has the vibe of the 70’s and a carefree childhood on the streets (Parents not really knowing what you were up to and never wanting to go home, playing with your friends…)
The kind of thing that’s more difficult to do these days but skipping, cats cradles, handstands and playing hide and seek and marbles is free.
Inspired a little bit by Roger Mayne’s street photography exhibition at the photographers gallery. Shot in Hackney.
