I was a bit sad to miss the action in Europe : all the exciting Trade Shows in Copenhagen (CIFFKIDS), Amsterdam (Kleine Fabriek), London (Bubble), Florence (Pitti Bimbo), Paris (Playtime). Luckily, I will be in the US in March, just in time for Playtime New York, a show that I keep visiting and that I appreciate a lot for its real boutique feel and beautiful brands selection (75 in total).

This edition of Playtime Paris gathered 400 international brands (children’s and maternity) and +6000 visitors (34% international visitors). A big thank to Violaine Belle-Croix (French journalist) and Joanne Karkour (owner of children’s store Kidding in Beirut) who sent some comments on their visit.

Violaine Belle-Croix “Lots of beautiful brands! It’s always difficult to give a feedback because you want to name too many of them. Names that come instantly to mind are Bakker made with love, Quenotte (a new french label), La Petite Luce, Max et Lola, and oh dear, I need to tell you that Louis Louise also had an incredible collection with a little “cognac” (caramel brown) theme to die for… I’d say the amount of creativity in children’s fashion is incompatible with the concept of short list !

But here’s a few crushes I had at the show : to start with, Nathalie Verlinden whose leather shoes are beautiful, as always. Then I’d like to mention Noé&Zoë, a young brand from Berlin, producing in Austria a sweet and chic collection, in warm and neon tones. Also among my favourites : My Little Day (that you might all already know). Last but not least : Yoyo by Baby Zen, a small urban stroller targeted to mums who have no stroller room in their building, nor elevator (ideal for Parisians!).

Joanne F Karkour Kidding Beirut “Playtime was pretty interesting for a winter collection. We liked the fresh colorful collections at Max et Lola, Simple Kids, Morley…as well as the rock collection at California Vintage or the funky items at L’epicerie des Bidules. We fell in love with Max et Lola, an amazing collection made of refined fabrics, nice cuts for elegant and sophisticated kids.
We also met with new suppliers such as Miller, Petit By Sofie Schnoor…”
