New in New York, to mark in your must-visit list : a store fully dedicated to the children organic underwear brand Goat Milk, one of Pirouette’s favourite labels.

Located in the East Village (523 east 12th st, new york, ny 10009, (212) 500-1437), the store has an inspiring authentic industrial feel. The space had been used for the past 15 years by a photographer as a dark room. And before that it was where a plumber kept his plumbing.

Tanya  tells us about the neighborhood…
.
“The East Village reminds me the West Village 15 years ago. It has a lot of charm, low lying buildings, one large park (Tompkins Square Park) and many, many community gardens. The neighborhood is a nice mix of young people, families and old timers that still pay $150/month for an apartment.
.
A few of our favorites places in the neighborhood:
.
A family owned restaurant where the food is just really, really good. Everything is house-made, home-baked, free-range, grass-fed, hormone free organic and local. Even their beverages are quadruple filtered. AND they compost all their waste.
.
Another great little food place with a charming backyard.
All organic, in-season menu.
.
She just opened up a shop a week ago. Her vintage dresses are really unique and pretty.
.
They just opened and are our next door neighbors. They sell toys such as Kidrobot, Muttpop and Shawnimals. But the really unique and interesting service they offer is 3D printing. cubony.com/3d-printing/
They showed me the machine and the printer and it’s literally magic. You can create any kind of drawing and with some help from Victor, one of the owners, you can create a 3D object. So basically that character that your kid is always drawing, you can now turn into a 3 dimensional doll. Amazing.
.
Cool menswear
.
A very eclectic store, where Geova, the owner, takes vintage pieces and embellishes them or retools them. Very one of a kind.
.
Great knitting store
.
Vintage and new
.
This is a store that sells anything that is odd. Like a stuffed 2-headed calf. An extensive collection of taxidermy, medical apparatus and even a mummified head of a Peruvian childe circa 500 B.C.
They also have a reality show.
