Cartagena is a fun destination with kids. The ancient city, surrounded by walls, was declared Unesco
World Heritage Site in 1984. Way back in time, the Spanish used Cartagena to store the gold they stole from the Incas. The fortifications were built  to protect it from pirates and corsairs (French and English privateers licensed by their king).  These stories fascinate children and it is worth taking them to the Museum of Gold…Cartagena is colourful, vibrant; it has beautiful architecture, nice hotels and delicious food.
