Photographer Zoe Adlersberg and stylist Mariah Walker flip the traditional focus on female baby pairing (as seen in so many images) on its head by creating a series of black and white portraits for Earnshaws magazine of men paired with babies. The images are strong, engaging and dare we say it, super cute. What is it about a GentleMan?;-)
The issue’s theme was specifically around baby fashion. Often we think of babies as sweet and cute – and if paired with an adult, it’s often a woman. As a photographer, editorials also allow me to try out new ideas, and here we really wanted to do something different with babies. Mariah and I came up with this graphic BW portrait story – pairing men with babies. My motivation was to create intimate portraits with men, tender and impactful, intense and visually dynamic. Inez and Vindoodh’s style of portraiture really inspired me for this – bold, clean, simple, honest. Casting was specific and intentional, I like to be atypical in my casting and not go for the obvious choice. It was a great exercise getting the men comfortable with the babies…some were naturals!
